Meeting point at Madonna dell’Acero, at the foot of Corno alle Scale: here, we will begin our trek. We will climb along the path that runs along the spectacular Dardagna waterfalls, with their seven jumps, and along the ridge to Lake Pratignano: a magnificent path, from the wild Dardagna Valley to the ridge path on the Riva Mountains, the last German defensive line in Northern Italy during the Second World War. The route is very scenic and it runs between the provinces of Bologna and Modena. Continuing to climb, we could see at our feet the Dardagna and Ospitale Valley, until we reach the wide basin of Patrignano Lake, where we’ll spend the night. Here, we could find everything we need to set up the tent camp, food, drinks and our luggages, carried by a clerk who will support us. We will prepare everything, including the well-deserved dinner, which will be cooked over the fire in the silence of the mountain. The starry skies at high altitude will keep us company until the dawn.

After breakfast, we are able to leave towards the Scaffaiolo Lake. We will move along the path of the ridge, reaching the wide prairies of high altitude, dominated by blueberries. Once we have reached Spigolino Mount and its fantastic landscape, which sometimes it’s possible to see the Tyrrhenian Sea, we will be on the main Apennine ridge. Along a ridge path, we could reach the Scaffaiolo Lake and the “Duca degli Abruzzi” refuge, where we will stop for lunch. Here we will taste the typical mountain cuisine, with polenta and tagliatelle, and enjoy a moment of relaxation. The downhill path will take us to Cavone Lake and finally to Madonna dell’Acero, where we’ll end the route. Before saying goodbye, we can visit the Sanctuary, rich in history and characterized by a particular mountain architecture.
