After meeting our guide at our headquarters in the Bologna centre, we will take the train that will take us to the first Bolognese Apennines in half an hour. We will cross the centre of the Marzabotto village, where we will be able to see the monuments commemorating the events that took place during the Second World War.
We will start walking up the hills overlooking the village. We will cross cultivated fields and vineyards until we reach the ridge, from where we will have a splendid view of the Reno Valley. We will cross farms and rural cottages, we will follow CAI paths through oak woods and we will pass next to ancient medieval villages, characterized by the presence of towers, architectural peculiarities of these areas.
We will then reach a panoramic point where, in the shade of large trees, we will have the opportunity to rest and enjoy a moment of relaxation while enjoying a packed lunch with excellent local products.
We will then descend towards the valley following the course of the stream. We will meet other villages, lakes, waterfalls and the ancient water mills that grinded cereals processed by farmers in these valleys. We will end our trek in Lama di Reno, where we can admire the murales made on the buildings of the old industrial plants, before taking the train that will take us back to Bologna.
